Helesia Luke is the NDP candidate in Vancouver-Langara. Helesia is a business owner and active community volunteer. She is a vocal public education advocate and a founding member of the BC Society for Public Education. During her career in communications and strategic planning Helesia has worked on some of the most pressing public interest issues in our province including: poverty, homelessness, human rights and the environment. She is currently serving a third term on the board of CCEC Credit Union and is a director of the Dream Catchers Homeless Soccer Team.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Helesia lives with her husband, Bill Sample and their teenage daughter and adult son. In 2002, Helesia was awarded the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for community service.
